Father – Lloyd, Army Master Sergeant World War II and Korean veteran. Rather withdrawn and kept silent about his war experiences. Other than his war experience a vocal kidder.
Mother – Mary Louise, didn’t live with her, raised by grandmother.
Grandmother- Eva Gertrude(maternal) lived with family. Busy, caring and instilled her love of knowledge into Jim.
Grand father- Clifton Douglas.
Great grandfather – Cherokee, Native American.
PERSONALITY- Efficient, intelligent, serious, thoughtful, takes calculated risks, doesn’t suffer fools gladly but likes to teach and share information. Perfectionist.
Driven by the desire to do what is right, to keep the balance between good and evil on the side of the good and to protect the innocent.

University of Washington – 1985-1990 PhD Geochemistry with a special emphasis on planetary sciences, extreme life and Astrobiology. Thesis on silica rock coatings in particular Desert Varnish.
OCCUPATION – Full Bird Colonel. Assistant Head of Biological Warfare Center. Lead field agent for BWC.
CAREER – Enlisted, basic training Fort Knox. Infantry and jump school, Fort Benning, Georgia. Special Forces training, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, excelled and then returned to Fort Bragg Special Forces training where he was recruited by the CIA. CIA request Special Forces to send him to infantry Officer Candidate School, (OCS) Fort Benning, Georgia. Sent to Vietnam as SF/CIA operative in 1972-1973.
MODUS OPERANDI – Action speaks louder than words. Expediency trumps rules. Think fast, think smart, act accurately. Observe at all times. Take any risks as long as the odds are at least 1% in your favor. Fast decisions equalize poor odds. Get the job done. Protect those that need protecting without concern for their attackers.

Wants to keep his home life completely separate from his job. Haunted by a mistake he made in Vietnam which cost the lives of two Vietnamese girls and their mother. Only Brush knows about this.
He views Heather as his shelter away from his other life. Worries she will not understand his other life and reluctant to talk about it with her.
